A muse Studio CAS Watercolor Stamping

CAS Watercolor Stamping Seasonal Branch SJEJ005 Today my friend Jennifer Matott inspired me on the Faber- Castell Blog with her Technique Tuesday post.  I  used the Star die cut from A muse Studio to replicate her CAS Watercolor Stamping on canvas.  It reminded me of a technique I taught at an expo maybe 6 or 7 years ago.  Here are the supplies you need: watercolor pencils, rubber stamp, and water brush or brush and water :)

Pick the color of pencil you want to stamp with.

Apply water to the stamp before you color the stamp with the colored pencil.

Apply the watercolor pencil to the stamp, the color will float off the pencil and onto the stamp, if the stamp is not wet enough the watercolor pencil will not float on the stamp, but  if it is too wet it won’t stay on the stamp.  Adjust the water as needed.

Stamp the watercolored stamp onto your paper. I did use a cold press watercolor paper for this sample, however I have done this on regular 80 # cardstock with success as well.

Stamp the branch onto the paper so the flowers fall in the appropriate place.  I did not use permanent ink for this I used a dye based ink and then carefully painted water onto the branch to give it a watercolor effect as well.

Continue to color, wet, stamp, repeat until the desired effect is achieved.  Then to Shimmer it up, spray the Stardust Finishing Spray on top and you’ll have a beautiful shimmer effect.

Mount the image to some layers of fabulous A muse Studio Paper.  Embellish with ribbon A muse Studio Impression Plates and die cuts. On the watermelson layer I sanded the dots before adding the stamped layer.  The shimmer spray lightens the colors of the colored pencil images.
